Welcome to the New Year! While some may feel trepidation at the start of yet another year, I find it exhilarating and am excited about what will unfold through the days and months ahead. It hasn’t always felt this way, however. While we are all born with innumerable seeds of potential, our experiences in life can cause many of these seeds to be stunted, suppressed or even reviled. Certainly for me, there were years where pain and fear were the more predominant colors of my daily life. I credit the power of homeopathy and other healing experiential processes in eliminating disease forces and embracing more of myself; now both new days and new years are met in an attitude of appreciative expectancy.
We all know that the one constant in life is change and for a healthy baby or young child, change is an exhilarating experience! Born a tiny helpless creature completely dependent on those around for every need, we gradually learn to roll over, sit, reach, touch, taste, smell, and eagerly explore further parts of our world. In health, our Vital Force as Samuel Hahnemann described it, keeps all parts of our organism in harmony, “so that our indwelling, rational spirit can freely avail itself of this living, healthy instrument for the higher purposes of our existence (Organon #9).”
In his later writings, Hahnemann came to recognize we are all born with inherited taints (he called them miasms) and therefore certain susceptibilities, regardless of our life experiences – and he expanded homeopathic treatment to address not only “acquired” disease but also those we brought in through our ancestry. Over the past 200 years, homeopathy has continued to evolve further, supporting a gradual “re-tunement” process of not only helping with presenting issues, but also helping to clear underlying familial weaknesses.
How do we recognize our own inner mis-tunements? Anything that restricts, angers, depresses, causes pain/irritation or weakens us, whether physical, emotional, mental or spiritual, is a good indication something deeper down is amiss. While self-treatment is certainly worth trying for some issues, often we cannot see outside our own fishbowl and circle endlessly within the same waters. As well, addressing 1 issue while ignoring other, possibly more serious problems, keeps treatment at the superficial level while the deeper mis-tunement continues. While homeopathy isn’t the only modality out there, it does have the benefit of taking the whole person into consideration – past, present and future, physical, mental, emotional, spiritual – and seeking remedies that address the totality rather than individual parts.
As I have furthered my personal journey, so has my homeopathic practice also expanded over the years; elements from other healing practices such as Shamanism, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Jungian Psychology, Family Constellation and most recently the Present Child Method figure strongly in the work I do with my clients. I love this work and am grateful to share it! One client recently emailed me the following: “You are one of the most remarkable healers I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting and your gift is your ability to love. Your love and kindness (combined with the homeopathy of course!) healed my little family in so many ways. Thank you!”
If you are facing this New Year with anything less than enthusiasm and vitality, perhaps now is the time to reach for a healthier, more vital experience of life; let’s talk about what changes you would like to see in this year ahead!
